President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed musician RJ Jacinto as Presidential Adviser for telecommunications.
On Wednesday, December 2, Malacanang announced the appointment of Jacinto as the new telco adviser.
According to Malacanang Spokesman Harry Roque, Jacinto has the trust and confidence of the President since he already held several positions in the government.
“PA Jacinto has served the Duterte administration in various capacities. He was the former Presidential Adviser on Economic Affairs and Information Technology and later became Undersecretary of the Department of information and Communications Technology.
“We are therefore confident that PA Jacinto would ably and effectively discharge his duties in this new assignment,” said Roque.
Prior to his latest appointment, Jacinto was previously chosen by Duterte as his Presidential Adviser on Economic Affairs and Information Technology Communications in July 2016.
Last May 2020, Jacinto was appointed as Undersecretary of the Dept. of Information and Communications Technology replacing resigned Usec. Elise Rio.
Jacinto, a musician and a businessman, is known as the owner of the TV network RJTV.
He is also one of the celebrities who campaigned for Duterte in the 2016 Presidential elections.
