Kim Chiu is listed as one of the seven Filipino celebrities who were among Forbes Asia’s 100 digital stars.
The inaugural list aims to recognize influential digital stars across the Asia-Pacific region with wide social media reach and impactful advocacies and causes.
During the ABS-CBN franchise denial, Kim drew criticisms because of her puzzling analogy of classroom rules so, the ‘Bawal Lumabas’ gaffe was created.
Forbes Asia noticed how Kim used the gaffe as a basis for her single ‘The Classroom Song’ that garnered nine million views on YouTube. She also helped raise funds for pandemic relief by selling ‘The Classroom Song’ branded shirts.
Kim celebrated this recognition that she did not really expect.
“TOTOO NGA!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!!!!! No words!!!! I am a part of ASIA PACIFIC’s MOST INFLUENTIAL CELEBRITIES ON SOCIAL MEDIA! no words!!! FORBES!!! Sorry capital letters lahat!!! Para intense yun yung nararamdaman ko now!!! LIKE WOW,” she wrote.
“I am just thankful for everything God has been giving me. My faith has been tested this year but I never gave up on trusting his will, ALL IN HIS GLORY! ALL FOR YOU FATHER GOD! THANK YOU Forbes for this recognition. There is truly LOVE AND LIGHT,” she said.

She was also congratulated by her boyfriend Xian Lim for this remarkable achievement.
Kim admits that the ‘Bawal Lumabas’ controversy was one of the lowest points of her life. Despite this, she managed to turn it into an opportunity to be better.
