Despite a challenging year, the festivities continue as GMA Network rings in the new year with a grand celebration in “Kapuso Countdown to 2021” this Thursday, December 31.
The biggest and brightest Kapuso stars will banner an evening that takes a look back at the tough year that 2020 was, and welcomes a brand-new year with a unified purpose – to celebrate life, to give thanks, and to spread hope by continuing the tradition of excellence in providing world-class news and entertainment.
To commemorate GMA Network’s 70th anniversary this year, the show will begin with a nostalgic look at the milestones of the Network.
Main host and Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards will bring to the stage heartwarming songs about the significance of sharing the joys of the season. In collaboration with GMA Regional TV, he will be joined by top local performers from various regions across the country.
All set to lead exciting musical numbers are Asia’s Nightingale Ms. Lani Misalucha, Asia’s Pop Diva Julie Anne San Jose, and Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista.
To amp up the fun, Kapuso stars Ken Chan, Rayver Cruz, Kyline Alcantara, Gabbi Garcia, Khalil Ramos, Mark Herras, and Rochelle Pangilinan will also take part in the grand celebration.
Kapuso viewers should look forward to performances by Kapuso OST Princess Hannah Precillas, The Clash grand champions Golden Cañedo, Jeremiah Tiangco, and Jessica Villarubin, The Clash alumnus Garrett Bolden, together with StarStruck graduates Shayne Sava, Lexi Gonzales, and Kim De Leon.
In the spirit of family and togetherness, heartfelt messages from GMA Pinoy TV viewers will also be showcased as part of the show’s global celebration with Filipinos across the nation and all over the world.
Other special guests including Janine Teñoso, GForce, DJ Loonyo, and Mannex Manhattan are also set to spice up the show.
An uplifting performance from Julie Anne of ‘Written in the Sand’ – a song composed by Maestro Danny Tan and Ms. Agnes Caballa for GMA’s participation in the 1999 Millennium Day Broadcast, which also marks the beginning of GMA’s tradition of welcoming the new year – leads to the countdown proper as the Network and its artists welcome 2021 with high hopes and cheerful spirits.
Come midnight, a bright and magical drone show will light up the sky to officially welcome 2021. And as an added treat to Kapuso viewers, GMA Network will share a sneak peek at its exciting program offerings for the coming year.
