For the latest season of Pinoy Big Brother, PBB Connect Director Lauren Dyogi announced that they received more than 170,000 Kumu audition clips from aspiring housemates throughout the Philippines and around the world.
They selected 14 housemates whom they’ve already revealed to the public.
But with the ongoing pandemic, is the PBB house ready for the new normal?
At the media conference held last December 3 for PBB Connect, Direk Lauren said they would follow the strictest protocols.
“ABS-CBN, in general, is very, very strict with their protocols kasi natatakot nga kami na may magkasakit so talagang sobra, meron kaming protocols. But for PBB, we had the usual naman. We had a medical test, a psychological test, and all the physical tests.
“Pero ngayon importante siyempre, everyone came in earlier to do 14 days of quarantine and isolation. So that when they go inside the house, everybody is clear and everybody is negative and it’s the safest bubble. That house will be the safest bubble. It’s disinfected, it’s cleaned.
“Walang ibang makakapasok doon na hindi siguradong 100% clear of any COVID or anything. So that will be a very, very, very safe place.”
Direk Lauren shared that PBB Connect was really not part of the plan especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.
“Ang iniisip ko lagi rin, sa nangyayari ngayon bakit kailangan magkaroon ng PBB is a question. Nasa utak ko yan. Is that providential? May gusto bang sabihin? Kasi wala talaga ito sa plano namin this year. We just had a recent edition and it’s a good time to take a break.”
“But we didn’t realize in eight months of quarantine, Kumu actually had the idea of bringing back PBB. So we’re very happy with the partnership. May surprise tayo so huwag sila bibitaw kasi marami pang magaganap. Pasimula pa lang tayo.”
Now that the 15th edition of PBB is coming to reality, 9 new and former hosts will join the PBB Connect: Toni Gonzaga, Bianca Gonzalez, Robi Domingo, Kim Chiu, Richard Juan, Edward Barber, Maymay Entrata, Melai Cantiveros, and Enchong Dee.
