Senator Manny Pacquiao has indirectly admitted his plans to run for president in 2022.
In his interview with Karen Davila on ANC’s Headstart, Pacquiao was asked about his political plans.
While Pacquiao tried to evade talking about politics, he still responded saying he’s not out to please everybody about his choices in serving the people.
“You cannot please everyone. I can easily forego politics but not the opportunity to serve the people,” said Pacquiao.
The boxer turned politician was long rumored to be gunning for the presidency,
In 2015, his boxing promoter Bob Arum was quoted on Pacman’s plans to run for the highest office of the land.
“He’s going to run for senate in the Philippines in 2016,” said Arum. “And then in 2022, or maybe later, he’ll run for President of the Philippines,” Bob Arum in 2015
Lately, Pacquiao has been visible in donation efforts with his most recent in Batangas where he was criticized for giving cash which was viewed as early campaigning and for violating COVID-19 protocols on mass gathering.

Pacquiao was also recently appointed as President of the ruling party PDP-Laban, the political party of President Rodrigo Duterte.
His assumption of the post also signaled his plans for the next election.
His close ally and friend Buhay Partylist Lito Atienza even disclosed that Manny already conferred to him his plans to run for president in 2022.
“The field now is limited to three people—Manny Pacquiao, Sarah Duterte, and Isko Moreno. This is my opinion, okay. I like the three of them. But Manny is really close to my heart. He already told me that he’s running for president. I told him to consider it once, twice, ten times more before he makes any decision,” Atienza revealed.
