With comedian and TV host Vice Ganda was not able to have an entry for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival, he still showed his support for his co-host Vhong Navarro.
Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim is an official entry to the MMFF 2020 which has Vhong reprising his role as Mang Kepweng.
In an interview, Vhong shared how Vice supported his upcoming movie. According to Navarro, the iconic comedian was saddened that they were unable to finish the movie which would have been their entry for this year’s MMFF. Despite this setback, Vice celebrated the fact that Vhong’s movie made it.
“Napag-usapan namin yung Pasko, so sabi nya, ‘ayan may Pasko, laban tayo, di tayo titigil’. Tapos bigla sya nalungkot.
He also added that when they are promoting the movie, his co-host would also promote it. According to Vhong, the reason Vice is happy for him being able to make the cut for MMFF is because he had cast Vice Ganda’s boyfriend, Ion Perez.
When asked if Vice was able to visit Ion on the set, Vhong said that his co-host had plans to drop by the location. But unfortunately, because of the distance where the set was located, and with their noontime show ‘It’s Showtime’, the multi-awarded comedian wasn’t able to do so.
He also added that Vice was thinking of bringing food for them. Vhong jokingly said that the food was only meant for Ion.
With Mang Kepweng’s sequel being the second movie of Ion, Vhong admitted that he had no problems with him.
First time ko sya nakasama sa pelikula.
‘Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim’ is a sequel of ‘Mang Kepweng Returns’. The movie continues the story of Mang Kepweng (Vhong) as he heals all kinds of sickness. However, with him being obsessed by the power of the bandanna, he had taken it for granted, causing it to lose its power. Now, he is on a quest to restore the power of the bandanna and redeem himself as the rightful wearer. It is directed by Topel Lee
