Aiko Melendez reveals COVID-19 scare, thanks GMA Network for care during locked-in taping

In her Facebook post, Prima Donnas star Aiko Melendez revealed getting a COVID-19 scare after losing her sense of taste during their locked-in filming.

Melendez wrote that she had symptoms of COVID-19 but eventually found out that it was tonsilitis. Melendez added that the Prima Donnas cast and crew took care of her when she felt sick.

“Panlasa ko only to find out i have tonsilitis. Thank you to my GMA family who took good care of me until i tested negative,” wrote Melendez.

In her other post, she wrote details regarding GMA Network’s strict quarantine protocols, and usage of Protective Personal Equipment if one of their cast and crew had symptoms of COVID-19. Melendez also wrote that GMA Network immediately brought her to the hospital for swab testing.

“Protocol is isolate ka agad sa set. That’s how strict GMA is kapag me symptoms ka. They made me wear PPE straight in my room until i got my test result which is negative. I was brought to the hospital to get my swab,” wrote Melendez.

Finally, Melendez wrote that she tested negative for COVID-19 and now back at work.

In a previous press conference for Prima Donnas, Melendez said that she appreciated GMA7’s quarantine protocols. She added that it also helped relieve her anxieties during the locked-in tapings.

“One thing I appreciate with GMA when we started taping during sa lock-in namin, the minute that we set foot on the set, everything was really sanitized. Nag-swab test kami.”

“So talagang na-appreciate ko yun dahil sabi ko yun mga anxiety ko, nung bago ako set up sa taping natanggal yun nung ika-second day ko mag-taping,” Melendez added.
