ABS-CBN’s Station ID this 2020 is an emotional one. However, it is more than just a heart-wrenching song. It may have creatively represented and summarized the year.
A netizen made a funny representation of the stages of a relationship using the CSID.
@constantjed wrote, “Ang liwanag at ligaya from KathNiel representing the magjowa; Jadine sa mga ex natin, and Joshua para sa lahat ng single ngayong pasko!”
According to him, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla represents those who are in a relationship that are still going strong.
James Reid and Nadine Lustre represents those who broke up, and Joshua, being the only one without a partner since Julia Barretto was absent, is the representative of the SMPs (Samahan ng Malalamig ang Pasko).

“Ikaw ang Liwanag at Ligaya” also featured different types of social classes. There were those who are rich, poor, and members of indigenous tribes.
All ages were also included in the video as children up to what we call the oldies were highlighted.
Celebrities and fans were shown being given the chance to mingle, not to mention that all genders from straight to LGBTQ+ were in the video as well.
Let us not forget the creativity of the composers of the song to include different types of dialects and languages as part of “Ikaw ang Liwanag at Ligaya”. It showcased the different dialects of the Philippines such as Tagalog, Chavacano, Hiligaynon, Waray, Tausug, Bisaya, Ilocano, Pangasinese, Maguidanaoan, Bicolano, and Kapampangan. Some languages were also integrated as English, Japanese, Italian, Chinese, French, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew, and Spanish were inserted in the song.
However, all dialects and languages translate to only “Light and Joy”, the main message of the song.
This isn’t the first Christmas Station ID that incorporated dialects and languages in the song but it is just amazing to hear how a single sentence or phrase could be a representation of the unity of races. The reason why they were a part of the song is to give meaning that Christmas is the time to be united as one. Surviving this year and every moment of being alive should be counted as a blessing.
