In a YouTube vlog, Xian Lim read and reacted to mean tweets about him.
Most of the comments accused him of being ‘mayabang’. Some also called him unprofessional, ungentlemanly, and ‘laos’.
The actor is aware that many people see or perceive him as someone who is ‘mayabang’ (arrogant) however, he claims this to be untrue.
“Siguro yung mukha ko lang ang nagbibigay ng impression na mayabang ako. Baka mukha ko lang naman o yung aura ko,” he said.
He also thinks that his introverted personality is one factor why people see him that way.
“I barely go out, Introvert kasi ako na tao eh. So baka yun yung nagbibigay ng impression.”
To recall, he was also criticized for not being very open to the media, switch some alleging he is unprofessional. But, he shared previously that he had a hard time dealing with the press before, but he has learned to cope as time passes.
Moreover, Xian recognized the fact that social media provides a platform for people to practice their freedom of speech but, some tend to abuse the system.
So the actor has some advice for those who experience bashing.
First, he advised not to take everything too seriously as these people who bash others are just insecure beings.
“You’re more than the comment they’re saying about you,” Xian said.
“The mere fact na may sinasabi sila sa’yo, maybe you’re doing something right,” he added.
Also, he said to take in positivity and cleanse the toxicity in our lives. He said that taking about 1-2 weeks of break from social media might also help.
Xian is talking from experience because in 2019, after the backlash for his alleged unprofessionalism, he took a break from social media.
“I refuse to be a victim of your insensitivity towards people. DONE. Signing off social media for a while. What a waste of time watering dead plants,” he wrote before.
As announced in October, Xian is now shooting his upcoming movie with Marco Gumabao and former Miss International Kylie Verzosa entitled, “Parang Kayo, Pero Hindi,” directed by RC delos Reyes.
