Actor Kit Thompson revealed that he doesn’t want to be in a BL (Boys’ Love) series even though the genre is currently trending.
A BL type of series focuses on the romance between two guys and is often called “gay romance.”
According to an article by Reggee Bonoan of Inquirer Bandera, Kit said that he didn’t want to play such a character just because it is currently what people would like to watch.
“Well the things is, I feel like ang daming lumabas na BL recently, I feel like it’s so crammed like 2020 (ngayong taon), ilang mga BL na ‘yung lumabas,” he said.
The actor said that he didn’t want to just jump on the ‘bandwagon’ and he would like to choose his characters carefully.
“I also don’t wanna join the bandwagon just so I can say I did? I want something really good and then think about what should I do whatever the offer is,” he explained.
When asked if he is already contented with being a character actor, Kit answered that he just enjoys portraying different types of characters for his shows.
“Well, I don’t think that way, I just enjoy doing different things na hindi ko pa na try dati. I think I get a rush of emotions every time its new,” he said.
“I don’t wanna do the same thing over and over again because mabo-bore ako or I won’t be that interested anymore so I always find something new everytime,” he added.
Even though there have been several actors who have done a BL series, Kit still refused to play the character.
Some examples of actors who did a BL series include Elijah Canlas and Kokoy de Santos of ‘Gameboys’, Ali King and Alec Kevin of ‘Boys’ Lockdown’, JC Alcantara and Tony Labrusca of ‘Hello Stranger’ among others.
Kit Thompson has played different sorts of characters in his acting career such as a guy who fell in love with a woman almost twice his age in Belle Douleur (2019), a serious type of guy in MOMOL Nights (2019), and an NBI agent with issues with his father in Sino Ang May Sala: Mea Culpa (2019)”.
His latest show will be a revenge drama series called La Vida Lena that will premiere on iWantTFC this upcoming November 14. He will star along with Erich Gonzales, Carlo Aquino, and JC de Vera.
