November 13th, 2020 – Singapore – Following the release of their poignant stripped back single “Getting Better” in September, rising Brisbane quartet Waxflower are kicking things back into fifth gear with their blistering, impassioned new release “Again”, out today via Rude Records.
The track premiered this week via triple j Unearthed, with the accompanying music video making a first appearance on leading UK alternative site Rock Sound last night. “Again” is somewhat a signal of a new era for the pop-punk visionaries, and is what frontman Tristan Higginson describes as “a line in the sand” for the group’s next step.
“‘Again’ is a mantra of hope,” continues Higginson. “It’s a reminder of my capacity to heal when times inevitably get tough. Although it does touch on those times, there is a vein of optimism running through the song that’s new for us.”
The band enlisted the powerhouse vocals of Eat Your Heart Out’s Caitlin Henry to emphasise the chorus’ dialogue.
“Working with Caitlin on vocals at the end of the track was an amazing experience – her talent really shines through.”
The visually stunning accompanying music video was shot by the band’s own guitarist, Nick Hargans. “We wanted to provide an abstract representation of the song’s themes: anxiety and hope. It’s our most elaborate video to date, with a lot of talented people coming out to help.”
“Again” was recorded at Electric Sun Studios with producer Stevie Knight (Stand Atlantic / Yours Truly / Between You & Me).
