Unkabogable star Vice Ganda revealed that just like any other aspiring stars he once auditioned for ABS-CBN’s popular reality TV show, Pinoy Big Brother.
On the noontime show It’s Showtime, host Vice brought up the topic of Pinoy Big Brother’s Stay at Home Edition.
The comedian then asked his fellow co-hosts if they have ever auditioned for PBB before he proudly raised his arm.
“Bukas na pala talaga ang PBB nuh? Sino nag audition sa inyo sa PBB?” Vice proudly raised his arms after asking,
Co-host Jhong Hilario asked incredulously, “Ikaw?”
“Oo, First celebrity audition wala pang [It’s] Showtime, basta first Celebrity audition.”
Vice was referring to Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition 1, the first celebrity season of the Philippine ABS-CBN reality TV series.
“After nung normal kina Sam Milby tapos yung second yung celebrity audition pinakita yung audition ko dito.”
The winners of this batch were Keanna Reeves who declared as the Big Winner, John Prats came in second, Bianca Gonzalez in third, while Zanjoe Marudo was fourth.
“Hindi ako tanggap laglag si beki. Showtime lang talga tumanggap sa akin. Stand up nako nun lumalabas labas na ako nun sa teleserye ng ABS [CBN] ”
Vice also shared his experience with the audition. The comedian stressed that he was asked numerous questions about different topics and even about his personal life.
“Tell me about yourself puro ganun tapos mga tanong tungkol sa buhay mo ganyan ganyan tatay mo anong kinamatay ng tatay mo yung mga ganyan lahat, pina describe din sa akin si Lord.”
But when Vice Ganda was asked to choose between, It’s Showtime and Pinoy Big Brother,
“Pero kung natanggap ka nun wala ka rito sa [It’s] Showtime.”
The comedian stressed that it doesn’t matter as long as he is with ABS CBN,
“Ay basta ABS [CBN].”
He also mentioned other rising stars and prized talents like Nadine Lustre and Maine Mendoza from GMA Network, who also auditioned but didn’t pass.
“Nalabas yun dati kasama nina Nadine [Lustre] Maine [Mendoza] yung mga hinde pumasa.”
Nadine Lustre and Alden Richards auditioned for Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash Edition in 2010, but both did not make the cut. Ironically, for Nadine Lustre, the show’s winner was her former boyfriend, James Reid.
Meanwhile, Maine tried to join the Pinoy Big Brother: 737 which aired in 2015. The winners of the season were Jimboy Martin and Miho Nishida.
In an interview, Direk Lauren Dyogi acknowledged that he had made bad calls in the past when it came to discovering talents.
“Siyempre, isang tao lang ako. Marami pang ibang opportunities o avenues para sumikat. Marami na akong misses in the past. Maraming nag-audition sa akin na hindi ko napansin, pero sikat na sila ngayon.
“That’s a bad call on my part. But then again, gano’n talaga. Siguro hindi ako ang kanilang kapalaran.”
