Veteran news anchor Ted Failon revealed that he shifted to Radyo5 because DZMM radio shut down along with ABS-CBN TV broadcast.
After Congress decided to refuse ABS-CBN’s bid for a fresh franchise, the network announced the cessation of their TV and radio broadcast. With this, many employees, including Failon, decided to leave the network.
During an interview with Luchi Cruz Valdes in Usapang Real Life, Failon said that had DZMM remained, he would not have left the network. But, since the radio station was also shut down, he was left with no choice.
Failon truly values his passion for radio broadcasting that is why he was forced to leave ABS-CBN.
“Hindi naman sana ako lilipat kung meron pa ring radyo. Kaso, wala na ang teleradyo, ang tunay na mundo ko, ang pangarap ko,” he said.
Being a radio broadcaster was his dream and he chose to pursue this despite his father not being in favor of it.
Before being one of the prominent news presenters, Failon started from the bottom He started with this own program in a Tacloban radio station wherein he only earned P50 as salary.
He began his career with ABS-CBN through Hoy Gising! in 1992.
Failon served as anchors in both radio and television. Before leaving ABS-CBN, he was an anchor in TV Patrol and hosts Failon Ngayon and its tele-radio version.
At present, he has a radio show with TV5 entitled ‘Ted Failon and DJ Chacha sa Radyo5.’
