Piolo Pascual revealed that he didn’t want to change ABS-CBN’s station ID (SID) even though he already transferred to the Kapatid network.
In an online program of Charo Santos-Concio on November 1 via Kumu called “Dear Charo,” Piolo was invited to be the guest wherein they talked about Piolo’s latest shows and projects along with Robert Labayen who is Charo’s co-host. They also talked about ABS-CBN’s station ID for this year that is said to be already in the works.
Robert is the head of ABS-CBN’s creative communication management division who is the one responsible for Kapamilya network’s popular SIDs such as “Bro, Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko” and “Family is Love.”
In the talk show, Piolo candidly asked Robert about when they will be able to record the Kapamilya network’s 2020 Christmas station ID.
The executive explained that preparations are already underway saying, “Inuumpisahan na!”
Charo then reiterated the actor’s question and added saying that they should reconstruct ABS-CBN’s summer station ID “Kapamilya Forever.”
“‘Yan ha, sabi ni PJ, kailan daw tayo mag-i-SID. Why not? Kapamilya forever,” she stated.
Piolo agreed with retaining the SID saying, “Kapamilya forever.”
Piolo was one of the singers in the network’s 2009 holiday station ID “Star ng Pasko” where he sang the first part of the song.
The 43-year-old actor was also one of the main figures in the 2011 star-studded music video of the national anthem, “Lupang Hinirang” where he was seen carrying the Philippine flag while leading a group of runners also bearing the national symbol.
The music video can usually be watched before the ABS-CBN channel 2 sign-off at night.
Piolo talked about the video saying, “Ano ‘yan, e, yung pinagdala ako ng flag nung pumunta ako ng Hidalgo, e.”
“Hindi ko alam na dala ko pala ang flag ng ABS, na itatarak ko, sa National Anthem,” he added.
Charo recalled the video saying “Ay, oo. Matagal na ‘yon.”
“And I take it to heart, Tita. I take it to heart,” Piolo stated.
Charo mentioned that the said music video needed to be updated as it has already been almost a decade since it premiered.
Piolo joked about disagreeing with the change saying that he might be excluded in the video.
“Huwag, Tita, ‘pag pinalitan ‘yon, baka mawala ako!” he said.
“Oo, huwag na,” Charo replied, seemingly amused. “Baka… Nangangapit-bahay ka lang.”
Pascual clarified, “Nagtatrabaho lang po.”
Piolo recently transferred to TV5 and is one of the main hosts in the weekend musical-variety show Sunday Noontime Live (SNL).
“Hanggang trabaho lang po. But, Tita, come on, that’s not something we talk about, but napakaliit ng industriya,” he explained.
He also expressed his gratitude to Charo saying that the ABS-CBN’s chief content officer has helped him with his showbiz career. He also acknowledged Charo’s wisdom that allowed him to feel secure and guided with his decisions.
“Nakapaliit ng mundo natin. I guess, tatanda po tayong magkakasama. Na I’m really given this privilege to last this long in this business,” he said.
“You know how very well I really adore you, and how much I really listen to everything that you taught me…”
“Your wisdom has really changed me because, if not for your sound advice, siguro I would have made some choices that I would regret.
“But because you were there, because you were always around, you always made yourself available for me whenever I needed it.”
“That actually made me… it relaxed me, made me feel secure, knowing that I had a home, I had a plece wherein I can grow and where I can be myself.
“So, thanks for that,” he added.
Piolo Pascual has been with ABS-CBN’s talent agency Star Magic for 24 years. He is known for his roles in Starting Over Again (2014), The Breakup Playlist (2015), and Last Night (2017).
