ABS-CBN being the biggest media network in the country has an undeniably wide reach.
At this time of the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses, news updates and information plays a very vital role and ABS-CBN could have been a good source of these.
However, this chance was cut off by the 70 congressmen who voted for the franchise denial forcing the network to exit from free TV.
With this, Ogie Diaz blamed these congressmen for deciding to shut down ABS-CBN.
Diaz affirmed a tweet from Karen Davila who remembered ABS-CBN’s role at this trying time.
Magigiting kasi ang 70 congressmen. Malamang buwisit sa kanila ang mga constituents nila. Pero gawa pa din ng paraan ang abs-cbn para maihatid ang balita at tulong. ❤️💚💙 https://t.co/c8q4kyy19J

However, Diaz also appreciated how ABS-CBN strives to deliver news and conduct relief operations for the victims of the Typhoon.
When ABS-CBN exited from the free TV broadcast, the network along with its consumers shifted to digital platforms like YouTube and Facebook.
It also launched its pay-TV channel, Kapamilya Online Live which delivers a live feed of the Kapamilya channel and replays of some Kapamilya shows.
As they continue to explore for ways to deliver service, they signed a block time agreement with ZOE TV, now known as A2Z which is owned by Brother Eddie Villanueva.
The regional groups of ABS-CBN which also delivers localized news and information were affected by the shutdown. This caused the minimized news-gathering capacity of the network especially during this kind of phenomenon.
However, despite all of these challenges, ABS-CBN continues to be of service to the Filipino people. They continue to deliver news and produce content for their consumers on all platforms.
Meanwhile, on Facebook, Ogie Diaz calls out the government’s poor response amidst the typhoon. He demanded accountability and concrete actions from officials amidst all the challenges our country is facing.
He expressed his sympathy for helpless people who are only hoping for help from others. Good thing that non-government agencies and organizations are very much willing to extend their help to all victims of these calamities.
Diaz then instilled the importance of keeping our faith and prayers stronger and hope for a better tomorrow.
