Six years after Lyca Gairanod became the champion of the first The Voice Kids in 2014, her relationship with her The Voice coach Sarah Geronimo remains good.
Lyca just announced that she is now formally part of the Viva Artists Agency.
“May nag-push po sa akin na try ko sa Viva,” Gairanod said. “Naghahanap po ako talaga ng bagong journey. Si Ate Sarah po kasi, gusto ko rin siyang makasama. Tuwang-tuwa ako na maging part ng Viva.”
She also shared that it was Sarah who helped her to be part of Viva especially that she’s planning to break her barriers and also venture into acting and dancing.
“Sinabi sa akin ni Ate Sarah kung gusto kong mag-join ng Viva, sabihin ko sa kanya. Nag-Viva na rin ako para magkasama na kami. Marami akong gustong gawin. Gusto kong ipakita ang best ko. Gusto kong maging actress, singer, and dancer. Gusto ko pong ipakita sa public na enjoy din ako sa ganoon.”
The young artist said she would try to carry out new styles of music and not just stick to the belting of strong ballads.
“Iba po ang journey ko dati sa journey ko ngayon, Lume-level up na ako ngayon. Kailangan may mapatunayan ako ngayon na nandito na ako sa Viva. Gagawin ko ang lahat ng makakaya ko para mas maganda ang maging new journey ko.
“Gusto kong paghandaan ang journey ko dito sa Viva, Ito na si Lyca ngayon. Kailangan gawin ko ang dapat gawin para matupad ang mga pangarap ko.”
Gairanod also expressed her desire to further develop her career, not only as a singer but also as an actress and dancer, and to help her family live a more comfortable life.
“Kaya kong gawin ang lahat para sa pamilya ko. Sobrang gusto ko po talagang makatulong sa pamilya. Sobrang sarap at sobrang saya. Nakaka-kain na po kami ng tatlong beses sa isang araw. Okay na ang buhay namin ngayon kaysa sa dati.”
Before winning The Voice Kids, Gairanod’s family collected plastic products, bottles, and other recyclable items for added income.
Her father was a fisherman and her mother scavenged bottles and old newspapers. Gairanod supported her family by singing to her neighbors in return for money and food to support her family.
Now that she’s part of Viva, Lyca can’t help but be thankful for her ‘ate’ Sarah for opening another opportunity in her career.
“Malaking opportunity po sa akin na gusto ni Ate Sarah akong maging part ng concerts niya. Nag-uusap pa rin kami ni coach hanggang ngayon. Nag-kamustahan at balitaan. Sobrang saya ko dahil si Ate Sarah ang nag-convince sa akin na pumunta sa Viva. Alam ko maganda ang kakalabasan ng career ko.”
Not long after the closing of the ABS-CBN broadcasting network, some of its artists have found work alongside GMA Network talents through TV5’s cable subsidiary Cignal Entertainment.
