Following the non-renewal of her contract with GMA Network, Kris Bernal is now part of Cornerstone Entertainment.
On Thursday, in the virtual presscon for her move to Cornerstone, she revealed that the pandemic caused difficulties with her supposed contract renewal with the Kapuso network.
When her contract expired, she got the chance to work with different networks but she made sure that she asks permission from the GMA Artist Cente management.
She also admitted that should GMA Network will offer her a contract, she would accept it. But as of now, she needs to work with other networks.
“Lahat po ng appearances ko ay ipinaalam ko sa GMA pati ‘yung soap sa TV5 (Ate ng Ate Ko). Tulad nga po ng sabi ko wala akong exclusive contract kaya puwede akong maging Kapuso, puwedeng maging Kapatid, puwede akong maging Kapamilya. ‘Yun po ang situation ko ngayon.”
She also gives updates to GMA Network management about any projects she takes on as a sign of respect to the network where she worked for the past 13 years.
As she shifting to Cornerstone, she is looking forward to working with Cornerstone artists like Piolo Pascual, Jodi Sta. Maria, Jericho Rosales, Iza Calzado, Sam Milby, Julia Montes, Moira, and Catriona Gray.
“Sa Cornerstone po kasi mas may chance ako to grow, maraming opportunities na maibibigay sa akin,” she said.
Before this official announcement, Bernal already dropped hints on her Instagram account regarding this new chapter of her career with Cornerstone.
Weeks ago, she posted a photo with Cornerstone heads and Piolo Pascual on her Instagram account.
Before joining and eventually winning the top spot in Starstruck, Bernal had training and workshops under Star Magic.
She also tried her luck in Pinoy Big Brother, however, she failed to be one of the housemates.
Bernal launched her career in GMA Network through Starstruck. She was known for her roles in the series Impostora, Asawa Ko Karibal Ko, and Little Nanay. She also appeared on SOP, Party Pilipinas, and Sunday All-Stars.
