Former PTV4 News anchor Jules Guiang has called out his former boss PCOO Sec. Martin Andanar over the government’s lack of information dissemination in Cagayan and Isabela.
In a series of tweets, Guiang highlighted the lack of proper communication from the government prior to the typhoon which left people from Cagayan and Isabela in the dark.
“Hey Sec. @martinandanar, you were saying that gov’t has the widest reach of comms in the Philippines. Look at Cagayan now. Communication is key right? Info from the ground wasn’t hyped until what, days after #UlyssesPH? Gulatan tayo lahat, na naman,”

Guiang also mentioned how come the PCOO managed to create a music video as an intro of its coverage of President Rodrigo Duterte’s aerial inspection in Bicol with Senator aide Bong Go.
“Like if @pcoogov was able to produce a music video when Pres. @RRD__Davao & Sen. @SAPBongGo did an aerial inspection, bakit wala about this? Kasi reactive lang sa hashtags online? Sa pinag-uusapan?”

People of Isabela and Cagayan were caught off guard by the typhoon Ulysses because of little information about the typhoon and lack of proper communication with regards to the releasing of water from the Magat dam.
With inadequate media coverage from private and government networks, people took to social media to ask for help and assistance.
Meanwhile, following cries for media coverage, Guiang then shared social media posts from the Philippine Information Agency about the government’s rescue efforts in the hardest-hit parts of Isabela and Cagayan.
