In a recent tweet, Kapamilya actor-director John Lapus agreed with a netizen’s sentiment regarding the mindset of President Rodrigo Duterte’s supporters.
Lapus tweeted, “I think yan ang common sa mga DDS. Either bobo or tanga. Kaya madali sila mabola. Kaya sinasadya na ang mga kagagohan.”

It all started with the outfit of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray which was made by a Filipino.
In her Instagram post, she specifically mentioned that the dress was made by Justine Aliman, a Filipino stylist.
The dress that Catriona wore represented the colors of the Colombian flag. Gray was in the country to be a judge for Miss Universe Colombia.

However, supporters of Duterte lambasted Gray, ignoring the fact that it was just made by a Filipino designer and in no way it is connected with the Philippine flag.

Those who support Duterte made, in Lapus’ perception, no sense with their arguments. They used ad-hominem to get their point across, which is not how a debate should be. Presenting facts on how your argument is better than the other is the best way to have a fruitful discussion.
However, it feels that all logic escaped these supporters as corruption were rampant, the double standard of the Duterte administration, and the abuse of authority by his appointees, forgetting the mandate of public officials—to serve and to protect the people.
Lapus in his tweet, considers those who support Duterte as either dumb or stupid. Anything that they’ll post or comment on social media is just nonsense.
Grabe no? Yung ganyan na alam mong hindi nakapag-aral kaya mangmang nagiget ko pa. Pero yung mga edukado naman pero ganyan ang takbo ng utak e nakakagigil. 🤬 https://t.co/fXEQgJSyha

John’s tweets are not considered anti-government. His tweets purely show how idiotic and how Duterte’s supporters blindly idolize him.
Pota! Hindi nya alam kung bakit kinuha ng agila ang isda??? 🤪😱🤬 https://t.co/6b8zvP0woY

He is very vocal on Twitter about how the government runs things. His tweets show how thoughtless Duterte’s cult has been.

John Lapus was also affected by the ABS-CBN shutdown that is why he holds a grudge with those who supported its termination. However, his resentment towards these supporters has a point since most, if not all, have been using baseless and irrelevant information just to prove their point.
Catriona was also under criticism from Duterte supporters for being in Colombia where she was invited to be a judge for the Miss Universe Colombia pageant. People with logical thinking defended the beauty queen.
In a tweet, Twitter user @JerryGracio posted, “Mga tangang ‘to, si Catriona ba ang Presidente?”

Those who criticized Catriona forgot that the beauty queen is not a public official. She has the freedom to be in and out of the country.
Last time I checked si Duterte ang president hindi si Catriona Gray.

The standard of these so-called supporters is very low. Imagine a beauty queen with no obligation whatsoever is being criticized for being out of the country, while the person they are idolizing had no concrete plan of action to help those who were severely affected by the storm. Turning a blind eye is indeed dangerous and stupid.
