OPM icon and known Duterte critic Jim Paredes chided Malacanang over its insecurity with all the attention that Vice President Leni Robredo is getting.
In a tweet, Paredes wondered why Malacanang can’t help but compete with the Vice President when a recent survey gave Duterte 91% approval rating.
“With 91% approval rating, why are you still insecure? Something doesn’t add up. “

Robredo has been at the receiving end of continuous tirades and lies from Malacanang.
In his recent public address, President Duterte slammed the Vice President for allegedly lying to the public. Duterte and his minions also claimed that Robredo was the one who started and orchestrated the top trending topic #NasaanAngPangulo although everyone on social media knows that it was a spontaneous topic from the netizens.
Duterte even went as far as maligning Robredo’s reputation claiming she’s sleeping around in different houses.
But just like Paredes the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo also wondered where is Malacanang’s insecurity coming from given their highly publicized satisfaction and approval ratings.
Robredo’s spokesman Atty. Barry Gutierrez said if Malacanang believes that the survey is true then they shouldn’t worry about the efforts of the Vice President.
“Why be insecure if you have 91 percent approval rating,”
“If they really believed that they did everything right, in other words, there’s really no call for the public to criticize them, if he really believed he had a valid reason for not going and despite the fact that he was in the ASEAN, they did all they could to give correct, timely information to the people affected by the typhoons and the flooding, and to bring help in a timely manner to all these places where the flooding occurred, then I don’t see what the big deal is.”
Guttierrez also added that Robredo is not up for praises or credit with what she’s doing because her focus is on doing the essential without thinking of competing with anyone.
“The Vice President is clearly more interested in doing the work that needs to be done. If somebody else wants to take credit for what she has done, fine. If somebody wants to say, ‘We did more,’ fine. It’s not an issue,” he stated.
