As they approach the release of their first full-length album, Brooklyn-based synth-pop duo Great Good Fine Ok drop a gem of a new single for fans. The track, entitled “Progress,” exudes a bouncy, feel-good vibe with a timely message.
When asked about the inspiration behind the song, the duo shared their thoughts: ”’Progress’ is about realizing that it’s okay to make mistakes, evolve, and most importantly, figure out how to make things right. We’re all going through a shit storm right now and none of us will be exactly the same when it subsides. This is a good thing! It’s times like these that force us to re-evaluate our priorities and take stock of the type of people we’ve been and who we want to be. The first step in fixing a problem is realizing that you have a problem and we’ve all had PLENTY of time to realize ALL of the problems. In our personal lives and as a country.
We’ve never seen so many people thinking about what will be best for everyone, and THAT is Progress.”
The duo’s deliciously retro-futuristic synth-pop songs have accumulated millions of streams – including their viral sensation “Take it Or Leave It” (28M streams), collaborations with pop rock band Before
You Exit (“Find Yourself” – 45M streams) and Grammy-winning DJ / production duo The Chainsmokers (“Let You Go” – 67M streams). GGFO have transformed these dance floor ready tunes into a captivating live show. On top of numerous sold out headline tours of the US, a sold out 6 city tour of China, and festivals including Bonnaroo, Firefly and Bunbury, they’ve opened for acts ranging from Tove Lo to X Ambassadors, and embarked on US tours with Betty Who, Joywave, Smallpools, Vacationer, Flor and Dreamers .
Brooklyn synthpop duo Great Good Fine Ok met one evening in 2013 and by the next morning had written their first song together, “You’re the One for Me,” a gauzy, heart-thumping anthem that hit #1 on Hype Machine twice in one month and instantly established the group’s sound with Jon Sandler ’s dance floor falsetto soaring over Luke Moellman’s lush post-Space Age production, the perfect soundtrack for retrofuturism.
In just 5 years their fan base has grown exponentially, with over 100k followers on Spotify. With a new project on the horizon they show no signs of slowing down.
