Gabby Concepcion is set to be partnered with a younger actress for an upcoming GMA Network series.
The veteran actor, who is 56 years old,will work opposite with Sanya Lopez, 24, as main characters of the new series “First Yaya”.
The “Queen of Teleserye” Marian Rivera was first supposed to be his leading lady in the series however she backed out due to her family. Marian is now focusing on taking care of her two kids Zia and Ziggy with her husband, Dingdong Dantes.
This is not the first time for Gabby to be paired with a younger actress in a project. He was first paired with the 28-year-old Carla Abellana in 2015 in “Because of You, Then he was paired with Sunshine Dizon and Ryza Cenon in the hit series Ika-6 na Utos who were 33 and 27 years old respectively during that time.
Gabby has not met Sanya yet in person but he said he heard a lot of good things about her.
The actress has numerous supporters and a huge fan base. To recall,she was one of the top choices of fans to reprise the iconic “Darna” role in a movie. Many admired her for being tall and morena.
Gabby expressed his excitement to work with the actress. “It’ll be a surprise. Hindi ko pa siya nakikila in person. Okay naman siya sa Zoom. Ang ganda naman ng energy na nakikita ko, so, I’m excited.”
In her previous interview, Sanya thanked her network and promised to work hard for her role.
“I’m very thankful that (my network) trusts me. What I can only promise is to work hard and perform. Ang na-fi-feel ko ngayon, kabado at excited ako dahil alam ko na malaki ang i-ne-expect nila kay Yaya Melody.”
First Yaya is a heartwarming drama romance series to set to premiere in 2021. Also in the cast are Pancho Magno, Pilar Pilapil, Cassy Legaspi, and Joaquin “JD” Domagoso.
