Actor Marvin Augustin supposedly backed out from his reunion project with ‘Magandang Buhay’ host Jolina Magdangal.
The two were known for their “MarJo” love team back in the ”90s to early 2000s and were among the most liked love teams.
In an episode of ‘Magandang Buhay’ on Friday, November 6 where Jolina celebrated her 42nd birthday, Marvin appeared as a guest and talked about the anticipated reunion movie with his ‘Labtim.’
He mentioned that both he and Jolina wanted to be in a movie together again but said that at times like these where filming is made hard due to COVID-19, they can’t rush the project.
“Actually ang nasabi ko nga lang diyan, sa mga ganitong panahon, hindi natin puwedeng madaliin ang project. Ang importante sa amin ni Labtim ay gustong-gusto talaga namin gumawa ng project,” he said.
“Gusto namin, hindi lang para sa sarili namin kung hindi para roon sa mga humahanga at gusto kaming mapanood ulit. Pero I think the right project will come,” he added.
Marvin explained that people shouldn’t worry because their reunion project didn’t push through not because they didn’t want it to. He assured that he and Jolina really wanted to be in a movie together again.
“Huwag silang mag-alala. Ang dahilan ng hindi pagkakatuloy ay hindi dahil hindi namin gusto. Gusto namin mas magandang project,” he said.
Jolina affirmed the actor’s statement saying that she agreed with the project the moment she heard that it was with Marvin.
“Correct. At saka lagi kaming nag-uusap. Sabi ko nga umoo ako roon sa project nung una pa lang kasi si Marvin ‘yon. So kung hindi rin makikita na hindi pa puwede ituloy ay okay lang sa akin,” said Jolina.
That’s why when their film did not push through, Jolina admitted that she was saddened. But she understands the circumstances behind because of the situation right now.
“Siyempre nalungkot ako kasi nag-look forward na kaming dalawa. Nag-uusap kami lagi. Tapos nangyari, napagkasunduan namin na sige huwag na rin nating madaliin kasi sa panahon ngayon, talagang alam mo na pinapanood ‘yung quality,” she said.
Meanwhile, Marvin believes that the right project will come for them not only for their sake but also for their loyal supporters.
“Gusto namin ‘yung something na talagang magugustuhan ng lahat ng tao. Dadating ‘yon. Alam ko,” he said.
Marvin and Jolina are known for their film Labs Kita… Okey Ka Lang? from 1998.
It was around March of 2019 when they revealed that they will have a reunion movie. Their fans speculated that the film will be a sequel to Labs Kita… Okay Ka Lang? but director Dan Villegas announced that it will be an original story about the “wreckage of a relationship.”
Their loveteam “MarJo” redefined rom-com in the late ‘90s for their films such as FLAMES: The Movie (1997), Kung Ayaw Mo, Huwag Mo! (1998), Gimik: The Reunion (1999), and Hey Babe! (1999).
