Singer Bituin Escalante can’t help but react to President Rodrigo Duterte’s remarks regarding his absence during the onslaught of Typhoon Rolly.
In a tweet, the singer slammed Duterte for seemingly putting the blame on critics when in fact he was duty-bound as the President to be on top of the country especially during emergencies and calamities.

Bituin’s tweet was in reaction to Duterte’s statement blasting his critics over his absence.
In his statement, Duterte reasoned that he was in Davao City in time for All Saints Day at that time and claimed that those who were looking for him and wanted him to be in Manila are those who wanted him to commit suicide.
“Gusto nila salubungin ko yung bagyo. They want me to commit suicide also,” Duterte said.
Bituin is just one of the many netizens and celebrities who called out President Duterte for his absence while typhoon Rolly is ravaging several parts of the country.
Duterte was a no show at the NDRRMC press briefing during the onslaught of the typhoon which is considered as the strongest in the world this year.
Meanwhile, this is not the only criticism about the President that Bituin shared on social media.
After drawing flak on social media for his absence, Duterte finally emerged on Monday and visited Bicol together with his trusted aide and Senator Bong Go.
Bituin also caught that photo and shared it on Twitter while slamming Duterte and Bong for ignoring protocols for photo ops.

Escalante was a former supporter of the President who helped him campaign during the 2016 elections.
However, just like other celebrities and artists who got fed with several government blunders, Bituin started to criticize the government for its incompetence and lack of clear plans for the country.
