It seemed that the day of reckoning is not yet over for the lawmakers who killed the ABS-CBN franchise.
After the ouster of Alan Peter Cayetano and several of his deputy speakers who voted to reject the ABS-CBN franchise, another one has been ousted on Wednesday, November 25.
In a tweet by ABS-CBN reporter RG Cruz, he said that Bulacan Rep. Jose Antonio “Jonathan” Sy Alvarado has been removed as the chairman of the Committee on Good Governance and Public Accountability.
Alvarado was replaced by DIWA Party List Rep. Michael Aglipay.
“House of Representatives elects DIWA Party List Rep. Michael Aglipay as the new chairman of the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, vice Bulacan Rep. Jose Antonio Sy Alvarado.”

Alvarado is the latest casualty from the change of House leadership following the ouster of other Cayetano allies Rep. Dan Fernandez, Raneo Abu, and Ron Salo who were booted out last week.
Alvarado together with Palawan Rep. Franz Alvarez lead the hearing for the ABS-CBN franchise renewal.
During the hearing, although Alvarado presided as one of the chairmen of the joint committee hearing, it cannot be denied that he was leaning towards opposing the ABS-CBN franchise renewal. He was always lenient to the oppositors Rep. Marcoleta, Remulla, and Defensor but more strict to those congressmen who were supportive of the Kapamilya network’s franchise application.
And on the voting day, Alvarado was one of the 70 who voted to reject the Kapamilya franchise.
With the continuous leadership change in the House of Representatives, there are renewed hopes for another ABS-CBN franchise application.
ABS-CBN has been in shutdown since May 5. But they are slowly getting back on track with their return to free TV via a block time agreement with Zoe Broadcasting Network through A2Z Channel 11.
