He also noticed the accuracy of the characteristics of Filipino Christmas from the parol and most especially the facial features of Filipino kids that were depicted in the ad.
Also tearing up over the fact that so many children who share a similar look or background or story will feel seen. And heard. And represented.
This is the world we should all strive to make.

For this year, Disney has launched a heartwarming Filipino-themed Christmas ad starring a lola (grandmother), her apo (granddaughter), and through the years the ties and traditions that bind a family together.
In the three-minute animated story, Disney’s iconic Mickey Mouse toy figures prominently as a gift that the grandmother receives, with much wonder and joy, from her father as a kid in the 1940s. Also featured in the short is the parol or the traditional Filipino Christmas lantern.
In a statement by Disney, “The heart-warming storyline is inspired by the themes of traditions, family togetherness, and nostalgia.”
With 19-year-old UK artist Griff’s vocals singing the song “Love Is A Compass,” the story aims to give a happy ending everybody wants to see.
“Right now at this time, it feels very timely and people are going to watch it and crave to be together and want to be together. It’s so important to give a message of hope and realize that we will all reconnect at some point. When I watched it, I just loved it,” said Griff.
