Netizens criticized Vice Ganda for conducting a donation drive for Typhoon Ulysses victims instead of using his own money.
The aftermath of Typhoon Ulysses left unimaginable destruction in areas in Luzon.
Many people lost their houses, properties, and even loved ones with 2020’s deadliest typhoon.
Vice Ganda and his team initiated the FUNDkabogale donation drive to collect cash donations for the benefit of the Typhoon Ulysses victims.
However, critics discredited Vice Ganda for conducting such a program because they believe that the star should have spent his own money to help the victims.
A netizen asks him why he still asks for donations knowing that he could’ve spent his own money.
Another recalled his recent vacation in the Balesin and questioned, “AFTER MO MAG BAKASYON HIHINGI KA NG DONASYON?”
Vice, his boyfriend Ion Perez, and their friends had a vacation in Balesin Island where they got to experience first-hand the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.
Another netizen suggested that he must parallel Willie Revillame’s act who sold his luxury car so he can donate to the flood victims.
Meanwhile, the comedian addressed critics regarding the issue on the Tuesday live episode of It’s Showtime.
Vice clarified that he is doing this for his ‘little ponies’ who want to help. He will just be the one who’ll gather and combine the donations.
“Ako na po ang nagkokolekta noon, ‘tapos ako ang mamimili, at ako na rin po ang magpapadala. Para nasa bahay na lang kayo.”
He assured that the donation drive is not for his own benefit and he is not doing it to escape from donating from his own pocket.
“Makakaasa po kayo na may personal po akong donasyon na ibinibigay.”
As of 11 am on November 19, Vice and the team already collected a total of 1,233,820.87 pesos of cash donations.
