Rumors are spreading that actor John Lloyd Cruz is coming back to show business after speaking to Congressman Albee Benitez.
According to PEP.ph, a conversation between John Lloyd and former Negros Occidental Congressman Benitez was held to discuss the actor’s television comeback project. Benitez even offered the actor a movie if he decided to go back.
Congressman Albee Benitez is the big boss of Brightlight Productions, a block-time producer of new programs that will broadcast on TV5 from October 2020 onwards.
After a two-year hiatus, John Lloyd’s movie comeback via Servando Magdamag was already confirmed before the pandemic has started.
The cameras started rolling last December for the upcoming ABS-CBN and Black Sheep film directed by Lav Diaz and written by Ricky Lee.
Diaz was inspired to make the movie during his first year of college in Ateneo de Manila University and believes John Lloyd is the best actor for Servando Magdamag,
“‘Ituloy na natin ‘yung Servando.’ And excited na excited siya because he was thinking of John Lloyd already,” Lee said.
John Lloyd Cruz is one of the prized talents of ABS-CBN.
He played Yuri with love team partner Bea Alonzo in Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay in 2002, top-billed It Might Be You in 2003, played Eli in Maging Sino Ka Man in 2006.
He is also known for his role on One More Chance with Bea. A sequel, A Second Chance, followed years later.
But in 2017, John Lloyd took the time off show business and chose to have a normal life with Ellen Adarna, his girlfriend at that time. In 2019, they broke up but share custody of their son.
As of now, no definite announcement made by John Lloyd’s camp about his showbiz comeback.
