13 Oct 2020: Where Are The Fruits (WATF) is proud to announce that they will be showcasing 3 WATF artists at this year’s SONIK Philippines Music Conference and Festival, happening from 15-17 October 2020. This showcase opportunity is supported by the National Arts Council.
SONIK Philippines is an annual event that focuses on both the creative and business sides of the global music industry. The 2020 edition will be digital, held from 15 to 17 October. Events that will be carried out include talks and panels, country and label showcases, networking
breakouts, and artist focus performances. Attendees of SONIK consist of music business professionals, local attendees, government agencies, and international speakers. inch, lewloh, and M1LDL1FE are the artists whose original music will be showcased via a pre-recorded 45-minute video during the slot reserved for WATF. There are a total of 9 country/label slots for SONIK, 4 of which have been reserved for Singapore (WATF), Canada, Philippines, and Taiwan. The Singapore showcase will be taking place on 17 October.
Tan Peng Sing, founder of WATF and guitarist of M1LDL1FE, will be speaking at a panel on 16 October titled ‘Export Quality: How The Government Can Help Advance Local Music’ alongside global music industry experts like John Huang (TW) and Marine De Bruyn (FR).
With a mix of attendees – SONIK welcomed 600 international delegates and 800 audience members in 2019 –, WATF and the slated artists will have a platform to connect with global
music professionals, which may lead to festival slots and collaboration opportunities. This also gives the artists an opportunity to develop their regional fanbase, and for WATF to expand its industry network.
