In the October 7 episode of “Frontline Pilipinas“, TV5’s primetime newscast, anchors Cheryl Cosim and Raffy Tulfo discussed the shift of former Kapamilya journalists Korina Sanchez and Ted Failon to their network.
“So partner official ng Kapatid si Korina,” Tulfo said to Cheryl.
“At ‘yan ang hihintayin nila kasi sabi niya di ba ngayong Oktubre ay she’ll be joining us. So dapat i-welcome natin,” Cheryl replied.
Tulfo then thinks about who else will join their team as the two of the biggest Kapamilya journalists move to TV5.
“Siyempre dapat. Andito na si Ted, si Korina… Sino susunod?” he said.
Cheryl then jokingly uttered, “Basta, hindi tayo mawawala, ha? Hahaha!”
Tulfo said that they will not be replaced but that Korina and Ted just added up the power of TV5 network.
“Hindi naman. Nakadagdag sila. Lalo tayong lalakas. Yun, abangan niyo ang paglalakas pa ng TV5. Sanib-puwersa ang TV5 at Cignal. Dito lang ‘yan,” he said.
As the ABS-CBN network shut down its broadcast, its journalists were also affected by this.
In September, veteran Kapamilya journalist Ted Failon officially signed a contract with TV5’s radio station, Radyo5.
Ted’s radio show on Radyo5 with also former Kapamilya, DJ Chacha commenced last Monday.
On Wednesday, Korina Sanchez also announced her shift to TV5 as her magazine show, Rated K will be aired starting October 24, on the said network, rebranded as Rated Korina.
Korina signed a contract with Brighlight productions which has block time agreement with TV5. It is owned by ex-Negros Occidental Representative Albee Benitez.
