Star Cinema Managing Director Olivia Lamasan believes Kapamilya artists who accepted offers from other networks will someday come back and work again with ABS-CBN or Star Cinema.
During a virtual interview with regards to the upcoming Star Cinema movies, Lamasan shared her take about Kapamilya stars who choose to accept offers from other productions and networks.
According to Lamasan, those stars are also people who have to earn a living that’s why she respects their decision to leave the Kapamilya network in the meantime. But she added that the entertainment industry is a small world and that she’s positive they’ll come back and work with the Kapamilya network again.
“We are all human beings. We all have needs. We all have preferences. Nirerespeto ko ang choices nila. Hindi naman ibig sabihin, nakalimutan nila ang ABS. Maliit ang mundo, maliit ang industriya. Isang araw, babalik sila at makakatrabaho namin ulit,” she said.

ABS-CBN has been in shutdown since May 5, 2020, following the expiration of their franchise and the NTC cease and desist order. And on July 10, 70 Cayetano-led congressmen decided to reject the network’s franchise application prompting the network to start their painful retrenchment process.
With that, several Kapamilya stars decided to accept offers from other productions so they can continue working. The majority of the stars joined Brighlight Productions by former congressman Albee Benitez who struck a block time agreement with TV5. Other ABS-CBN stars meanwhile also went to the Kapuso network.
However, there were also those who decided to stay with ABS-CBN despite the lack of a franchise. Currently, ABS-CBN shows are lording over their online platform, Kapamilya Online Live, and on cable and satellite TV the Kapamilya Channel.
Just recently, some ABS-CBN programs also went back to free TV on A2Z Channel 11 via the block time agreement with Zoe Broadcasting Network.
