Several netizens have blasted former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano over his live video showing he violated minimum health and safety protocols.
Cayetano on Tuesday took to Facebook live to tender his irrevocable resignation as speaker of the House of Representatives after some 186 congressmen voted to install Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco as the new speaker.
However, in his live video, Cayetano was obviously not wearing a face mask or face shield while he was in a public place.
Journalist and activist Tonyo Cruz in his tweet tagged the Taguig LGU and the PNP to look into Cayetano’s violations of the IATF rules which according to him endangered passerby and motorists.
“Hi @IloveTaguig1 @pnppio Please arrest and detain this person who was not wearing a mask while outside his house. He even took a video of himself while violating IATF rules. He endangered passersby and motorists.”

Another netizen @iangomez meanwhile shared a tweet by the Taguig LGU reminding everyone to wear a face mask every time whenever they go outside their homes to prevent the spread of the virus.
“Ang pagsuot ng face mask sa tuwing lalabas ng ating mga tahanan ay isang importanteng pamamaraan upang labanan at iwasan ang pagkalat ng COVID-19. #SafeCity #ilovetaguig”

Meanwhile, other netizens have pointed out that compared to ordinary citizens Cayetano will get away scot-free because he’s an ally of the administration just like what happened to other known violators like Sen. Koko Pimentel, Mocha Uson, Gen. Debold Sinas, and others who were also spared of any reprimands.
In a tweet, netizen @enconado_m said of course the PNP will not act against Cayetano because he is an ally of the President.
“syempre walang huli yan. kaalyado eh. basta kaalyado, ligtas sa huli.”

@tuta_ni_xi also shared the same sentiments asking the PNP if they will just brush off Cayetano’s violation just because he’s in power.
“@pnppio hindi sya naka mask at naka faceshield. Ano ang gagawin nyo? Papalampasin nyo lang ba kasi nasa kapangyarihan?”

IATF rules have always met with criticisms because of its double standard implementation. If you are a perceived ally of the administration you’ll be spared but for ordinary people, you’ll be reprimanded.
One of the recent incidents was the woman doing laundry just outside the door of her own house but was required to pay a fine for not wearing a mask even though she was still inside their backyard. The Paranaque LGU argued that the woman may endanger her neighbors who are passing by the alley.
“Nakita ko lang ito sa facebook. Anong kabobohan at kagaguhan ito? Naglalaba sa loob ng sariling bakuran titiketan dahil hindi naka face mask? Sa loob ng sariling bakuran yan ah, ilang hakbang lang mula sa pinto pero yung mga nasa posisyon tulad nila Siñas mapopromote pa,” @rryyyaaaannnn tweeted
