Filipino-American singer-songwriter and former Idol Philippines contestant Miguel Odron shared ABS-CBN’s stand on their LGBTQIA+ talents.
In Odron’s Twitter account, he replied to a since then deleted post. He said that ABS-CBN never once forced him to hide his sexuality. Then, he added that he made the conscious choice not to address his sexuality because he wants people to focus on his music.
“ABS never once forced me to hide my sexuality. I made a conscious choice not to address it because I really felt it would just be an unnecessary distraction to everyone,” said Odron through Twitter.
Odron also noted that he would have been comfortable being out during his stint in Idol Philippines.
“Although in hindsight I feel like I would have been a lot more comfy on the show had I been out,” said Odron via Twitter.

In June 2020, Odron addressed his sexuality in a lengthy post via Instagram. He said that he never had come out to his Mom. He also noted that when he joined Idol Philippines, he made the conscious choice not to address his sexuality so that people can focus on his music.
Just this year, Odron released ‘Chevy Cruze’ and ‘Weed’. Music platforms such as Apple Music, YouTube Music, and JOOX featured his single ‘Weed’. Spotify also featured his debut single “Chevy Cruze” with a whopping 721,000 streams as of October 12, 2020.
Odron was born in the Philippines but grew up in Indiana, USA. He returned to the country to pursue a musical career. Odron then joined Idol Philippines in 2019 and reached the top 5 finalist spot. Now, he is one of the new talents under ABS-CBN Music International.
It is ABS-CBN’s talent arm that aims to bring Filipino music to the forefront of the global scene.
