Kapamilya host-singer and concert king Martin Nievera welcomed as good news the entry of Sunday Noontime Live in the Sunday noontime show competition.
During the press conference for his Vicor Records homecoming on Wednesday, October 14, Martin said three Sunday noontime show on Philippine TV is great news for the “world of competition”.
“For the world of competition this is good news – 3 Sunday noontime shows, that’s great,” he said.
Nievera also added that it will again add spice to a healthy network war that has been focused only on ASAP and its Kapuso counterpart for the longest time.
“Another great thing it does is that it brings back the network wars even though we are not really at war with each other.
“Just that competition alone, the curiosity, what does their show look like compared to their show… all of these did not exist for a long long time and now it’s back,” Martin continued.
Brightlight Productions’ SNL (Sunday Noontime Live) already premiered on TV5 on Sunday, October 18. The show is led by Kapamilya stars Piolo Pascual, Catriona Gray, and Maja Salvador with Mr. M Johnny Manahan as the director.
Meanwhile, Martin added that the entry of a third Sunday noontime show will be a good development as it will challenge networks to give better quality entertainment, although saying that ASAP being the trailblazer has nothing to prove anymore.
“I hope that this will add fire to all the networks so that they’ll better themselves and not trying to kill each other. Because frankly, one of the 3 Sunday shows that you’ve mentioned, being in one of them …what am I going to do to be different from others? Absolutely nothing because I think ASAP has nothing to prove anymore.
“Actually, I’m excited because some of our Kapamilya has moved to ABC-5 and ABC-5 is a better network because of it.
“Because of the people that they got, were some of our best players, some of our best directors, best artists, so I wish them well.
“But my strategy is to sit back, watch them, applaud them.”
In the end, the concert king believes that the only thing that they should do is to keep entertaining and inspiring their loyal viewers.
“But like I tell all my other fellow Kapamilyas, you put blinders on and you keep going forward. Do not look back, do not look to your side.
“You have nothing to prove. Enjoy the ride, give the best entertainment that you can give however big or small your participation, make it epic.”
“We must only think of one thing—and that’s to entertain, inspire, maybe educate.”
“But leave the fighting for people who have to prove something to themselves.”
“But as far as I’m concerned, ASAP has nothing to prove, except just keep going forward.”
