Mariel Rodriguez is still hoping that she can go back to ABS-CBN at the right time.
In an Instagram comment, Mariel answered a netizen who asked her if she’s going back to Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime.
According to Mariel, ABS-CBN is her home and at the right time, she will be back.
Mariel joined It’s Showtime in 2016. She took a break after giving birth to their second child, but she hasn’t been back ever since until ABS-CBN’s shutdown and franchise rejection.
“ABS-CBN is my home. In my mind and in my heart…when the time is right I will be back,” Mariel said.
The netizen’s question came after It’s Showtime released its latest artcard without Mariel.
The new artcard which coincides with ABS-CBN’s return to free TV via the A2Z Channel features It’s Showtime‘s regular hosts with the addition of their newest co-host Kim Chiu replacing Mariel Rodriguez.
Mariel is a known die-hard Duterte supporter together with her husband Robin Padilla. Recently the couple earned social media backlash over their comment on the Manila Bay dolomite beach.
In a social media post, Mariel defended DENR’s dolomite beach project in Manila Bay saying it’s better to see where our taxes go so people should stop criticizing it. She also mentioned that during the time when Manila bay has much trash no one complained but after it was beautified people are now complaining.
“Noong puro basura, walang nagrereklamo. Ngayon na pinaganda, can you believe it? Ngayon sila nagrereklamo? Ang hindi ko maintindihan is ‘lagi nating hinahanap kung saan napunta ‘yung tax na ‘binabayad natin. ‘Ayan oh! At least, ‘yan, nakikita natin, ‘di ba? ‘Tapos may [complaint] pa rin?” said Mariel.
Aside from the dolomite controversy, Mariel was also criticized for not standing up for ABS-CBN during their most trying times.
Many netizens questioned Mariel’s silence about the Kapamilya network franchise renewal and rejection. People also slammed Mariel’s deafening silence when her husband Robin made his attacks against ABS-CBN.
Mariel however defended herself saying she just has her own way of standing up for the network which many people don’t understand.
“Hindi ako nanahimik. Hindi mo lang narinig yung way ko of standing up for them,” said Mariel.
