Veteran broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez is set to make a TV comeback as she officially transferred to the Kapatid network and signed a contract with Brightlight Productions, the company headed by former Negros Occidental representative Albee Benitez.
Korina will finally air her rebranded show ‘Rated Korina‘ on free-to-air television after having the magazine show available on the social networking site, Facebook.
The 56-year-old host officially transferred to TV5 on Wednesday, October 7, and her long-running show will be produced by the Brightlight Productions.
With the hashtags #BrightlightProductionsOnTV5 and #TV5BiggerBetterBERmonths, the production company welcomed Korina to its team and posted about it on its official Facebook account. The company said that Korina’s show will premiere on October 24 on TV5.
“Handa na ba kayo sa malalaking kwento from all walks of life? Si Ms. Korina Sanchez – Roxas, handang-handa na! Makabuluhan ang kwentuhan tuwing Sabado sa Rated Korina simula October 24, 4PM sa TV5,” the company wrote.
Korina’s transfer came after the media giant ABS-CBN was forced to shut down after the denial of the network’s franchise application. This led many Kapamilya stars and employees to accept jobs and projects from rival networks.
In an interview with News5, Korina mentioned that she is comfortable with having her TV comeback with TV5 because she already knows some of the people there.

“As people know, I’ve been producing in Facebook digitally, pero iba pa rin syempre if you’re on free TV,” she explained.
“I know many friends who are [on] TV5, so which is like having a family again. [There are] familiar faces, people I’ve worked with all these years in journalism, broadcasting. Parang tuloy lang ang ligaya,” she added.
She also mentioned that she is honored to be a part of the Kapatid network and even described it as a happy event for her.
“I’m very happy, I’m honored. Alam mo na, siyempre, pero those are the usual words. But of course, I mean it and it’s a happy day today,” she said.
Korina Sanchez had been with ABS-CBN for about 3 decades before transferring to the other network. She is known to be a part of several programs in the Kapamilya network throughout the years such as Hoy Gising! (1992-1997), Balitang K (1996-2001), TV Patrol (1995-1996, 2001-2004, 2010-2015), Bandila (2006-2009), Morning Girls with Kris and Korina (2003-2004), and Rated K (2004-2020).
