Kapamilya actress and box-office queen Kathryn Bernardo firmly believes that ABS-CBN will eventually bounce back from the rejected franchise.
Kathryn, together with her real-life partner Daniel Padilla, was one of the artists who decided to stay and stick it out with the Kapamilya network.
When ABS-CBN shut down in May and after their franchise renewal was rejected by the 70 congressmen, many Kapamilya stars decided to accept offers from other networks. But Kathryn chose to stay and even asked the Kapamilya network management what help they could give.
During the virtual press conference for their upcoming digital movie series The House Arrest of Us, Kathryn said staying with the Kapamilya network is her way of thanking ABS-CBN for all the help that they’ve done to her and her career.
“Aside from ABS-CBN being a mother network, sobrang malaking bagay sa akin ang loyalty. Ito ‘yung way ko para pasalamatan ‘yung network sa kung ano ang meron ako ngayon. Lahat ng blessings namin ay dahil sa kompanya,” Kathryn said.
Now that ABS-CBN is slowly bouncing back after their return to free TV via the A2Z Channel, Kathryn felt it was a good decision to stay.
“Ngayon na meron uli kaming chance na mapasaya ang mga tao, mabigyan ng trabaho ang mga crew, bakit ka magno-no sa ganitong opportunity, ‘di ba?” she said.
Several Kapamilya shows are now back to analog free TV with ABS-CBN’s block time deal with the Zoe Broadcasting Network. It’s Showtime, ASAP, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin, and Walang Hanggang Paalam have already been airing on A2Z Channel since October 10. Other Kapamilya programs will also follow in the next few weeks.
There was also renewed hopes for a new franchise following the change of leadership at the House of Representatives. Former Speaker Alan Cayetano has been alleged to have directed lawmakers to reject the ABS-CBN franchise as a gift to President Rodrigo Duterte who from the onset has been critical of the network.
Meanwhile, The House Arrest of Us is set to premiere on October 24. As a movie series, it will have 13 weekly episodes which will be shown on KTX.ph and iWantTFC.
