ABS-CBN confirmed its new series titled Bagong Umaga during a Facebook live session of the cast on Sunday, October 4.
The series will star Heaven Peralejo along with other Kapamilya artists Tony Labrusca, Kiko Estrada, Barbie Imperial, Michelle Vito, and Yves Flores.
The said series will be the biggest break in Peralejo’s showbiz career as it will be her first lead role in a series. The series is set to air on Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live.
According to Peralejo, she is happy with the filming of the series as the set gives off a joyous vibe.
“Nagsimula ang shoot namin noong September 25. Ilang days pa lang kaming nagshu-shoot pero sobrang saya actually,” she said.
She also explained what that the upcoming show is about saying, “Ipapakita talaga ‘;yung buhay natin. Ipapakita talaga rito na every day may new problem at every day ay mapapaisip ka kung paano mo ‘yon haharapin. Kapag hinarap mo ‘yon may mga taong makakatulong sa iyo at may mga tao ring papahirapan ka. Pero nasa iyo ‘yon kung paano mo sosolusyunan ang problema na ‘yon sa araw-araw.”
It can be remembered that the show was originally titled as “Cara Y Cruz and was supposed to star Julia Barretto, Tony Labrusca, Loisa Andalio, Ronnie Alonte, Marco Gumabao, Barbie Imperial, and Heaven Peralejo.
It was supposed to be a follow-up to the story of Julia and Tony who were paired up in the iWant original series I Am U (2019). At the video conference of ‘Cara Y Cruz‘ via Zoom in June 2020, Julia, Tony, Loisa, Ronnie, Barbie, Heaven, and Marco Gumabao were present and chatted with the show’s staff.
But the show changed its name to ‘Bagong Umaga‘ along with changing its lead stars. Julia was replaced by Heaven. This was after Julia announced her departure from Star Magic to transfer to VIVA Artists Agency on September 30.
There were rumors that the actress backed out of the lead role but she denied this and said that she was even present at all the meetings related to the series.
“I was present in all our script readings, our general assemblies. I was present for our look test.
“I was present for our one-on-one meeting with the director, nakapag-usap na kami ng mga gagawin namin sa character,” she said.
“And if I’m being honest, nakapag-empake na rin po talaga ako, ready for lock-in taping,” she added.
Aside from Julia, other original cast members Loisa Andalio, Ronnie Alonte, and Marco Gumabao were no longer part of the show.
Julia mentioned that ABS-CBN wanted to have an ‘all-Star Magic cast’ that’s why people speculated that Marco was removed for being a member of the VIVA Artists Agency as well.
However, there were no statements regarding Loisa and Ronnie (Loinie) who are both with Star Magic.
On the other hand, ‘Bagong Umaga’ Entertainment Production head Lauren Dyogi posted about the confirmation of the series on his Instagram account.
