With the reported technical recession of the Philippines as of June 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of teens today still prioritize luxuries over necessities such as having the latest iPhone device.
One prime example is from a tweet of actor Jerald Napoles who schooled a debutante asking for an iPhone 11 Pro Max for her birthday.
The unnamed debutante messaged the actor despite them not being related to each other. She asked if Jerald could help out in getting an iPhone 11 Pro Max or if he could lend his used iPhone device. Instead, Jerald gave her the best birthday gift with a nugget of wisdom.
First off, Jerald wrote how expensive an iPhone is and that a lot of people also want to get their hands on the latest iPhone device.
Instead of giving in to the debutante, Jerald told her to study hard, find a job, and save up to get the iPhone. He also noted how rewarding it is to work hard for the things she wants.
Jerald also chided the debutante in asking for unnecessary gifts from people she doesn’t personally know. Lastly, Jerald told the debutante she doesn’t need to have an iPhone and to accept that she won’t be getting it from anyone.
He even tweeted that he wanted the debutante to be happy on her birthday without the need for an iPhone.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY IHA. Don’t take this in wrong way. Gusto ko lang happy ka kahit walang iphone 11 pro max,” wrote Jerald via Twitter.
