With the news that the Filipino adaptation of Descendants of the Sun will be arriving on Netflix, actors Dingdong Dantes, Rocco Nacino, and actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith expressed their excitement and gratitude.
Firstly, Jasmine felt how surreal it was to see their teleserye on an international platform like Netflix.
“Of course surreal ano. This will be my first series that will be on Netflix. And I think for all of us, to have an opportunity, to have a project that will be on Netflix, it’s a dream come true. It’s just very exciting,” said Jasmine.
As for Rocco, he felt proud that their adaptation of the beloved Korean series gained recognition. He also said that it opens a lot of opportunities for GMA actors and actresses.
“I’m very very proud to be part of a project that has made a difference or has become a game changer in this field. Kumbaga it’s nice to know that you’re part of something na talagang tumatak sa mga tao na hindi lang sa bansa natin kung di sa ibang bansa kung saan kinilala din yung programa. So we are excited because with all the accomplishments. This opens a lot of opportunities, windows of opportunities for more projects. More GMA actors and actresses will be out there. Kaya happy kami na dahil dito sa Dscendants of the Sun, maraming pang darating jan kaya excited ako,” said Rocco.
Finally, Dingdong added that GMA can finally reach a wider audience through the inclusion of the TV series through an international streaming service. He also thanked the original creators of the TV series and for the recognition they received.
“Happy ako dahil hindi lang for Descendants of the Sun pero of course for GMA and the Filipino actors because ng wider reach yung audience. Mas nakakarating sa malalayong lugar yung trabaho natin. So parang because of the platform mas nagkaroon ng access sa mas maraming viewers.”
“Hopefully more projects to come for Filipino talents hindi ba. We do it one step at a time. That’s why thank you GMA at pinush nyo ito at salamat sa mga Koreano dahil binigyan nyo kami ng napakagandang istorya di ba. Di lang istorya pati yung recognition thats something we appreciate very much,” said Dingdong.
