Kapamilya star Daniel Padilla talked about his relationship with his Tita BB Gandanghari during the virtual presscon of his upcoming movie ‘The House Arrest of Us’ where he co-stars with Kathryn Bernardo.
According to a report by PEP, the 25-year-old actor mentioned that he is in a good relationship with BB but it has been a long time since they last spoke to each other.
“Matagal na kaming hindi nag-uusap ni Tita BB, e,” Daniel said.
He added saying that whenever they would see each other, they would always bond together as if no time has passed between them.
“Pero tuwing nagkikita naman kami, parang lagi kaming magkasama,” he said.
BB Gandanghari, formerly known as Rustom Cariño Padilla, is the older sister of Robin Padilla and the younger sibling of Rommel Padilla who is the father of Daniel.
There have been issues of BB’s rift with the Padilla clan after BB publicly admitted that she is gay. It can be remembered that she ‘came out’ of the closet in 2006 when she joined the celebrity edition of ABS-CBN’s reality show ‘Pinoy Big Brother.‘
But, Daniel said he has a good relationship with his Tita saying, “Ganoon naman lagi ang relasyon ko sa kanila, lalong-lalo na sa Padilla side, di ba?”
He said that he might not always show his concern to his family members but he cares for his Padilla family. He said that their relationship will always be the same as a family who takes care of each other.
“So, every time magkikita, parang magkasama kami all the time. Walang pinagbabago,” he said.
Daniel even showed his support for his Tita regarding BB’s transition as a member of the LGBT community when he added saying, “And Tita BB is really a beautiful person.”
On the other hand, BB Gandanghari previously shared about her grudge towards Daniel and her sister-in-law Mariel Rodriguez Padilla.
In an interview on the radio program Showbiz Talk Ganern on DZRH, BB revealed that she didn’t receive any support from her family during her transition period.
She said that she tried reaching out to her family for some moral support but unfortunately received none.
“I’m a very responsible and mature individual, so of course I need some support. I know that, that’s why I reached out. Nagri-reach out ako noon, yun naman ang katotohanan dun,” BB said.
“Kaya dumating sa punto yung mga isyu na yun because umabot na ako sa hangganan na, ‘A, ganun,’” she added.
Regarding his grudge with Mariel, BB shared that Mariel didn’t answer her calls when the actress-host was in America for 6 months to give birth to her second child with Robin in 2019.
“Nandito ka, nanganak ka dito sa America, tinawagan kita, hindi mo sasagutin ang tawag ko, hindi mo ako tatawagan. Wala kang kamag-anak dito?” she said.
BB is currently based in America that’s why she held a grudge towards Mariel who didn’t even bother to give her a call.
She also talked about Daniel saying that she wanted to receive more respect from him as a sister of the young actor’s dad.
“Bilang pamangkin, at magsasalita ako bilang tita, parang, I think I deserve more respect, kasi nauna kami,” said BB.
“So, kung kaya mo akong deadmahin at pumunta kayo rito sa Amerika na hindi naman kayo magpaparamdam. E, hindi naman ako para pumila at magsabing nandito ako, e, nauna kami. Yun lang ang akin,” she added.
