Kapamilya star Angel Locsin took to social media to express her gratitude towards Cavite governor Jonvic Remulla and Interior Secretary Eduardo Año after the two government officials defended Angel after being ‘red-tagged’ by Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr.
In a Facebook post on October 21 through National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) FB page, Parlade red-tagged several artists and TV personalities whom he claimed were part of the communist group New People’s Army (NPA).
Parlade is the spokesperson (NTF-ELCAC) who went on a ‘red-tagging spree’.
He mentioned the names of Liza Soberano, Catriona Gray, Angel Locsin, and even Ella Colmenares who is Angel’s sister.
Cavite Governor Remulla decided to speak up for the threatened TV personalities and mentioned that they should not be red-tagged. He talked about a government official who red-tagged people through NTF-ELCAC, seemingly referring to Parlade.
“Isang speaker mula sa National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), ang nag-tag sa ilang grupo at aktibista as ‘communist terrorists’ during the Strengthened Alliance on Fight Against Illegal Drugs and Terrorism (SAFER),” Remulla said.
He also mentioned that Cavite remains to be “insurgency-free” as he takes pride in the good governance in the city as an “effective weapon against communist insurgency.”
He added saying that Parlade should be ashamed of himself because he said that the military general is threatening women who were just trying to make a change with their beliefs and advocacies.
“Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr. should be ashamed of himself.”
“Threatening progressive and outspoken WOMEN who want to encourage a stronger feminist culture? That does NOT make them co-conspirators nor allies of the left wing,” he said.
Remulla said that he is not afraid if Parlade decides to red-tag him as well because he knows what his duty and obligation to the people are.
“Brand me a communist if you will but it is my sworn duty to defend Cavite’s record in holding the insurgency at bay,” he said.
“Ultimately, the fight against the appeal of joining the insurgency starts with jobs, justice, and the commitment of government to uphold their obligations to the people,”
“Slogans, red-tagging and threats will never prosper nor win,” he added.

On the other hand, Secretary Año also defended Angel as well as the other red-tagged celebrities saying that the artists are not being terrorists for wanting a change in the country.
“These personalities, they want change. They’re fighting issues for women, for certain sector but it doesn’t mean they are already terrorists. Hayaan natin silang makapag-express nang malaya,” he said in TeleRadyo.
“We shall make sure these personalities are respected,” he added.
Meanwhile, Angel Locsin posted on her Instagram account a clip of Parlade’s zoom interview with Karen Davila. Parlade talked about how Remulla’s Facebook post about him was ‘unfair.’
Angel seem sarcastic when she said, “o, badtrip diba?😄 apir.”
She thanked Remulla for his efforts to let Parlade get a ‘taste of his own medicine.’
“Thank you Gov. Remulla for giving him a dose of his own medicine 👌🏻,” she wrote.
Remulla even replied to Angel’s post saying, “You are most welcome, Madam 🙂,”
The 35-year-old actress also thanked Secretary Año through her IG story when she posted a quote from Año defending the red-tagged celebrities.
“Thank you, Sec. Año for doing what is right,” she wrote.
