As OPM rock band Mayonnaise gears up to celebrate their 18th year in the music industry, they recently released another single from their upcoming 8th studio album – this time featuring timeless talent Barbie Almalbis.
Recorded earlier in 2020, the collaboration, entitiled “Ang Kutis,” is actually band vocalist Monty Macalino’s tribute to friends in the entertainment scene. He recalls writing the lyrics right after one of their guest appearances in ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime, marvelling at everyone’s friendliness, especially host Anne Curtis.
He says, “Sobrang nabaitan lang ako kay Anne nun, very welcoming and pleasant yung pakikisama samin so mas lalo siyang gumanda bilang tao. Then pag-uwi nung nagiisip ng song ideas, dahil nga gusto ko nun magkaron ng collab with Barbie, parang naisip ko na ito yung bagay na kanta sa kanya and at the same time, tribute siya sa guesting na yun at para kay Anne.”
Mayonnaise has also recently unveiled to fans their website: www.mayonnaiseph.com, with exclusive details on their 18th anniversary celebration.
Ang Kutis is now out on all digital music platforms, with a behind-the-scenes music video out on Mayonnaise’s YouTube channel. It is the fourth single from the band’s 8th album, coming this November.
