In his Twitter post, actor Alex Medina urged Filipinos to normalize intelligence.
He also noted an article saying that the Philippines is dead last in the rankings of the smartest countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
“I-normalize natin yung pagiging matalino sa pinas, di yung pag may alam ka eh mamaru ka na agad,” said Alex via Twitter.
He retweeted the post from an article in Esquire magazine back in October 2019 that highlights the Philippines’ dead last ranking in the smartest countries in ASEAN.

According to the article, the data came from the World Population Review. The website measured the national average Intelligence Quotient of the country in 2019. According to their findings, the Philippines averaged at 86 in terms of IQ. They also noted that Iraq (87) and Sierra Leonne (91) both surpassed the national average IQ of the country.
The article also clarified that IQ isn’t the only measure for intelligence in the country. It also cited poverty as one of the possible factors of low IQ.
Alex has been vocal in criticizing local officials with the handling of the pandemic through Twitter. He also noted in one of his previous tweets the struggles of every Filipino during the 6-month lockdown period noting that he didn’t receive any aid from the government.
