Kapamilya actress Yam Concepcion revealed that she has guesting offers for ABS-CBN’s rival networks but she supposedly refused all of them.
At the virtual press conference for the finale of her show ‘Love Thy Woman,‘ Yam mentioned that she denied all the guesting offers from other networks because she said that she is still under the Kapamilya Channel.
“May mga parang offers na guesting from other networks, pero hindi ko siya kinuha kasi I’m still under the Kapamilya Channel,” said Yam.
“So ayun, pinipili kong manatili as a Kapamilya,” she added.
She explained that she will remain loyal to her home network for giving her the opportunity to still have work and projects despite the pandemic and ABS-CBN’s denied franchise.
“Hindi ko alam kung puwedeng sabihin na ngayon, pero I’m working on something exciting,” she said.
“So ayun, nagpapasalamat ako sa Kapamilya, sa ABS-CBN, dahil kahit ganito iyong sitwasyon, may trabaho pa rin ako,” she added.
She also hinted that she will be working on a new project after ‘Love Thy Woman‘ saying, “Sobrang excited ako sa gagawin kong next project.”
Following its denied franchise bid, ABS-CBN talents and employees lost their jobs and were retrenched amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It also forced the network to stop its free TV and radio broadcasting operations.
However, some of the ABS-CBN shows and series can still be watched through the cable-and-satellite channel Kapamilya Channel and its online counterpart Kapamilya Online Live.
Yam’s show, ‘Love Thy Woman‘, moved to the Kapamilya Channel after the network’s shut down. The said show is set to air its final episode on Friday, September 11.
The series also stars Kim Chui, Xian Lim, Eula Valdez, Sunshine Cruz, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Ruffa Gutierrez, and Christopher de Leon.
It can be remembered that one of the show’s stars, Christopher de Leon, tested positive for COVID-19 on March 17 despite claiming to be asymptomatic and not being in contact with any COVID-19 carriers. This caused select members of the cast to place themselves in self-quarantine. This happened while the show was on hiatus in response to the community quarantine caused by the pandemic. The actor recovered shortly after and the series made its return on June 15 on the Kapamilya Channel.
Yam Concepcion came to prominence after she became Ejay Falcon’s leading lady in the 2013 series Dugong Buhay. Since then, she has been a part of several TV series such as Pure Love (2014), Two Wives (2015), All of Me (2015), Langit Lupa (2016), FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano (2017), Halik (2018-2019), and Uncoupling (2019).
She also became a part of several Filipino movies like Won’t Last a Day Without You (2011), Rigodon (2012), Moron 5.2: The Transformation (2014), Nilalang (2015), This Time (2016), Bakit Lahat ng Gwapo may Boyfriend? (2016), Fangirl Fanboy (2017), and Amnesia Love (2018). She was recently a part of the movie Nightshift (2020).
Yam mentioned that she won’t give up her career in showbiz even after she gets married. In an interview with Ruffa Gutierrez for “Love Thy Chika,” she revealed that if her longtime boyfriend really loves her, then he would support Yam’s passion for acting.
“Of course, definitely I will say yes [if he proposes to me now]. Pero ang iwanan ang nagpapasaya sa akin, ang passion ko which is pag-arte, kung mahal niya talaga ako, wala dapat choice. He doesn’t have to give me that choice,” she said.
Yam is =in a five-year relationship with her boyfriend who is based in San Francisco. She said that they were able to pull through despite the long-distance relationship (LDR) by having constant communication and trust between them.
“’Yung trust na ‘yan, it wasn’t overnight. A lot of work talaga. It took us years and we’ve been through so much and I feel like we are stronger now. I feel that we are unbreakable,” she said.
“Imagine five years and LDR? Ang hirap noon. Hanggang ngayon okay pa rin naman kami. In love pa rin kami sa isa’t isa,” she added.
