Mariel Rodriguez responded on her husband Robin Padilla’s Instagram post to a netizen claiming that she kept quiet during the shutdown of ABS-CBN while loudly defending the government’s fake white sand beach.
Mariel said that she had a different way of standing up for her colleagues.
“Hindi ako nanahimik. Hindi mo lang narinig yung way ko of standing up for them,” said Mariel.
She also noted that although she did not join the noise barrage and rally about the shutdown of the network, it does not mean she did not support her mother network.
“Just because hindi ako nag rally at hindi ako nag-noise barrage, hindi nun ibig sabihin na nanahimik ako. False ka din,” said Mariel.
Mariel joined ABS-CBN in 2005 and briefly switched networks in 2012. She returned to ABS-CBN in 2014 and she is a part of the noon time show It’s Showtime.
Congress denied ABS-CBN’s franchise which led to the network’s shutdown. It spurred rallies and protests from actors, talents, and employees of the network, as well as different groups from around the country.
Mariel’s husband Robin Padilla is a known diehard Duterte supporter who was vocal about his opinion about the shutdown.
He noted that the actors should focus on the rights of the employees of ABS-CBN rather than voicing out their support for their network.
“Ipaglaban ninyo ang agreement ng DOLE at ng FDCP sa mga network nyo at kapag nakuha niyo yun para sa mga taong nagpapakahirap talaga na kasama ninyo kahit umulan o umaraw magpuyatan man o hindi tsaka niyo ipaglaban ang sinasabi ninyong karapatan ng isang multi billion na kumpanya,” said Robin.
