In the YouTube video from GMA Network Kapuso Web Specials titled ‘Shawie ako or Kiko ako’, Frankie Pangilinan listed traits that she received from her parents Sharon Cuneta and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.
Looks
When asked about her looks she said that she initially looked like her dad Sen. Kiko, but it changed as she grew up.
“I really don’t know. Cause a lot of people used to say na Kiko ako like as a kid, and I like really see that. But apparently now, it’s like sometimes people are saying na Shawie ako. There are even a couple of random ones in there, ‘Oh you look like your ate,’ ‘ Oh you look like your cousin,” said Frankie.
Height
When asked about her height she revealed that she has scoliosis so she doesn’t know whom of her parents did she inherited her trait. She even jokingly remarked that she was weird.
“I don’t know, so probably like Mama because she’s shorter so Shawie ako, pero at the same time I don’t really know its genetic. So again Kaki ako. Parang di ako nagmana sa either of them. Kasi their both quite tall naman. My Mom’s 5’6 and my Dad’s 6 ft, and Miel is 5’7. So when I look at Miel, like that what should I have been without my scoliosis. Weird ako,” said Frankie.
Fashion Sense
Frankie said that she inherited her fashion sense from Sharon Cuneta.
“Shawie ako, my dad wears the same shirts he been wearing for 20 years. Occasionally, I’ll steal like a T-Shirt or a Polo from Dad, pero Shawie ako. That’s not a question. Fashion Sense Shawie ako,” said Frankie.
Intelligence
When it comes to intelligence, Frankie said that both her parents are equal. She also noted that she got both her parent’s thought processes.
“I don’t think I’m smart as either of them both of my parents, mga magulang ko, magkatapat yan, like equal. Like a lot of people will tell me ‘oh you got your dad’s brain.’ I didn’t get my dad’s brain, I just got the way that he kind of thinks. I got the way he processes information but at the same time I got the way my mom feels. So yet again, I’m so sorry I think Kaki ako. I think it’s just me nanaman. It’s like a weird combination,” said Frankie.
Singing Voice
In terms of her singing voice, Frankie said that although her voice is smack in the middle of the voice range of her parents, primarily she took after Sharon.
“I want to say Shawie ako. Obviously Shawie is Shawie, and Shawie is an alto but I think that to a certain extent also because my daddy has a deeper voice. So my dad has a bass voice and my mom has an alto, and I’m right smack in the middle. I’m a contralto. So I’m like lower alto voice and so in a way also Kiko ako, but I think that primarily for the love of singing because that’s the thing, my dad was also in Kundirana for a while in school. So like the truth is they’re just you know, but I think primarily Shawie ako,” said Frankie.
Love of Writing
When it comes to love for writing, Frankie revealed that his dad keeps journals from 20 to 30 years ago and that she has her own interest in writing that is different from her parent’s interests.
“They write ridiculously. My dad keeps like journals and he has journals that are like 20-30 years old na, and my mom she writes beautifully. So actually in a weird way though neither of them really like write stories or write the way I did. Yung parang neither of them write poems and stories, or songs. So again in a weird way I think that it’s just me. Nag evolve lang. But that’s the thing they’re just both addicted to reading and writing. I think that’s what pushed me to like this also. It’s like a dual influence. So Kaki ako unfortunately,” said Frankie.
Confidence
Frankie revealed that she doesn’t feel confident despite her presence on social media. However, she said that in terms of her approach to situations that need confidence, she takes after Sharon.
“I’m not confident. I lack every ounce of self-confidence. It might seem like otherwise online but I really lack confidence so honestly again hindi ako nagmana to either of them, because both people are so confident. I think in a way because my mom likes to say that I am readable. Like I got most of my feelings from her. And because my Mama is a very very emotional person and I tend to be emotionally heavy I think that maybe the way that I approach situations that I need confidence baka mas Shawie ako dun,” said Frankie.
Creativity
When asked about her creativity, she said that she is more inclined to Sharon’s interests.
“Actually in terms of inclination baka mas Shawie ako dun. The truth is my dad is a pretty creative guy also. So I think primarily Shawie ako in terms of the field of particular interest,” said Frankie.
Sense of Adventure
When it comes to a sense of adventure, Frankie revealed that she took after Sen. Kiko.
“Kiko ako, My mom has a sense of adventure in terms of she wants to travel to get away. But the truth naman my mom 90% of the time she’s in the hotel room lang like just in the bedroom. She just wants to be away and she just wants to be with us. They both love traveling but in terms of the approach of wanting to do things and experience things, and learn things, then that’s my dad,” said Frankie.
“Whereas my mom is just wanting to relax. My Mom is like, ‘ Oh Happiness’ wanting to eat and like relax and do that stuff, but my dad is more like let’s go and learn stuff, let’s explore. More often than not, I’m my dad in that regard,” Frankie added.
Principles
When asked where she got her trait in terms of principles, she revealed that its a combination of both her parents.
“Both of them, in terms of what is happening around me like natural policy and social cultural issues maybe that’s dad’s influence so Kiko ako dun. But in terms of myself as an individual and as a woman, and what’s it like to be empowered within myself, so Shawie ako,” said Frankie.
Frankie is the 19-year-old daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Senator Francisco ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan. She is a known advocate of social justice and uses her platforms like Twitter to speak up against injustices.
