Kapamilya artist Shaina Magdayao showed her gratitude to all the Kapamilya employees who were displaced after the House of Representatives killed the franchise of the ABS-CBN network.
She posted on her Instagram account a photo that says: “Salamat, Kapamilya. Hanggang sa muli” along with her message of appreciation for Kapamilya employees.
The 30-year-old artist wanted to thank the Kapamilya employees for the work that they did for the network and for the support that they’ve shown in the network’s fight for their franchise.
She said that even though their home network was denied their bid for a fresh franchise, she assured them that this will not be the end for them. She believes that the time will come when the doors of the ABS-CBN Corporation will once again open to be in service for the Filipino people.
“Para sa aming mga kasamahan sa industriya na nawalan ng pagkakataong mag silbi at mag trabaho.”
“Maraming salamat. Hindi ito ang huli. 💔💙💚” she wrote.

She also said that in the meantime, people can watch their Kapamilya shows on the “Kapamilya Channel, IWANT, TFC, Kapamilya Youtube Channel, and Kapamilya FB acct.”
Shaina then quoted Jeremiah 29:11 that speaks of the Lord’s plan for the people.
“FOR I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU, DECLARES THE LORD.
PLANS TO PROSPER YOU AND NOT TO HARM YOU.
PLANS TO GIVE YOU HOPE AND A FUTURE.
Jeremiah 29:11″ she wrote.
Shaina believes that God has a plan for all the people as she said “God’s got us!!!!!!!!!! 🙏🏻”
On July 10, 2020, the House of Representatives franchise committee voted to deny the application of ABS-CBN for a franchise renewal by an overwhelming majority. The media giant ceased its free TV and radio channels operations and was forced to retrench its employees.
Thousands of Kapamilya talents and employees were left displaced after their home network was forced to shut down. Veteran broadcast journalists Ces Drilon and Korina Sanchez were among the first workers that were laid off by ABS-CBN. Recently, multi-awarded veteran broadcast journalist Ted Failon left ABS-CBN and made his final appearance on ‘TV Patrol’ and ‘Failon Ngayon sa TeleRadyo’.
Shaina Magdayao spoke up for the ABS-CBN network and the 11,000 employees who were left jobless by the network’s shutdown. She expressed her concerns during the #LabanKapamilya online protest despite saying that she was afraid to speak up at first.
“Pagkatapos mag sign off ng ABS-CBN, Sa totoo , yun po yatang yung tipo ng katahimikan na naexperience ko ang katahimikan na nakakabingi,” she said.
She said that she felt like all the normal things in her life suddenly disappeared even in the middle of a pandemic. She was also worried about being bashed for speaking her mind.
Shaina Magdayao has been with ABS-CBN for 23 years. She started her career in acting back when she was cast in the series Lyra (1996). She starred in the film Tanging Yaman (2000), where she won a Best Child Actress award from the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards.
She was part of the series Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin (2005), and starred in the series Kambal sa Uma (2009), Alyna (2010), Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo (2012) and was also added as the main cast of Juan dela Cruz in 2013.
She was also part of the fantasy drama series Nathaniel (2015), The Better Half (2017), Asintado (2018), Nang Ngumiti and Langit (2019). She is currently a part of the series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano which aired its new episodes on the Kapamilya Channel after ABS-CBN ceased broadcasting on free TV due to the network’s shutdown.
