TV comedienne Pokwang aired her complaints against Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) after she was charged with a high electricity bill.
On Twitter, Pokwang revealed that her electricity bill amounted to P131,312.00 for their four-month consumption.
She called out Meralco and asked her followers for their other hotline numbers after she failed to contact them.
“May iba pa bang hotline ang Meralco masinag?wala sumasagot at di sinasagot mga tawag…ng hula lang ata sila ng computation …4 na buwan P131,312.00 ano kami pabrika? @meralco,” she wrote.

Last June, actor Richard Yap also complained about the same problem when he received their electricity bill amounting to P55,652.01.
He said on Twitter, “A lot of people have been complaining about their @meralco bill. Instead of billing the average of 3months, they have been multiplying our bill 3x. How did our bill end up this big when we’ve been paying our monthly bills?”

Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian said the company might lose their franchise if they fail to comply with the orders of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
Last week, ERC said it imposed a P19-million fine on Meralco for violating advisories released for bills during the quarantine period in the country. Meralco failed to clearly explain the spike in the charges for May to its customers.
