Kapamilya star Liza Soberano responded to a basher who called her ‘boba’ (dumb) after she aired her concerns regarding the absolute pardon granted to a former US Marine Joseph Pemberton who murdered Filipino transgender Jennifer Laude back in 2014.
The 22-year-old actress was dismayed that President Rodrigo Duterte gave an absolute pardon to the convict for good conduct.
She noted that the decision to release Pemberton was wrong because she believes that it is unforgivable for someone to kill because of one’s sexual orientation.
So a murder was just released for good conduct. Are we supposed to just forget that he killed Jennifer Laude because he’s done some good? #JusticeForJenniferLaude #TransLivesMatter

Another question, you think this murderer (im not even gonna say his name) wasn’t treated fairly but, was it fair that Jennifer Laude was murdered out of hate just because of her sexual orientation? #TransLivesMatter

“Another question, you think this murderer (I’m not even gonna say his name) wasn’t treated fairly but, was it fair that Jennifer Laude was murdered out of hate just because of her sexual orientation? #TransLivesMatter,” she added.
While many agreed with what Liza said, some also bashed her saying that she doesn’t know the full story. People said that she should first do her research about the issue before airing her concerns.
One netizen caught the attention of Liza when she was called dumb. The netizen said that the young actress is only acting smart and that she should just focus on her career instead of involving herself in social issues.

“What? Ang boba pala ng babaeng ito. Now naniwala na talaga akong acting lang yung kunwaring matalino cya. Stick to your craft girl. Hwag masyadong pahalata na wala kang alam sa basic conprehension on laws & current events. Lening leni ang peg,” the netizen wrote.
Liza fired back at the basher with a seemingly sarcastic reply. “Ouch ang sakit nasaktan ako.”
It was in 2014 when Laude was found dead, slumped over the toilet, inside a motel room in Olongapo City. It was then discovered that Laude was inside the motel with Pemberton.
The former US Marine was soon found guilty of homicide and was sentenced to 6-12 years in prison but was later reduced to 10 years. Pemberton only served just over 5 years of his sentence when President Duterte issued the pardon on Monday, September 7.
The pardon was issued because Duterte claimed that the treatment given to Pemberton was unfair.
“The president has erased the remaining punishment against Pemberton,” Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced. “He can now go home because of the pardon.”
The decision to release the former US Marine angered the netizens like Liza. She also expressed her disappointment with the Philippine government for issuing the pardon and release.

Liza recently trended after she posted her frustrations over the slow internet provided by the telecommunication company Converge.
Converge really needs to start fixing their internet speed. I am an unhappy customer.

Can’t even answer the phone whenever we call. How unprofessional.

She lashed out the internet service provider saying that it displayed unprofessionalism by ignoring her calls.
Just minutes after Liza’s post, the official Twitter account of Converge replied to the young star in hopes of addressing her concerns.
But apparently, PLDT was quick to jump in. Liza recently revealed that she chose a new internet provider which is PLDT. She was satisfied with the service of the telecommunications company and said that her internet speed has improved a lot.
Okay so @pldt came to my house yesterday and hooked me up with the best internet I have ever experienced in my whole 5 years of living in this house. 300 MBPS. What a lifesaver. Lag? I don’t know her.
